Dr. Roy Geronemus

Dermatology

Roy G. Geronemus, MD, is one of the world’s leading lasers and cosmetic dermatology experts. He graduated from Harvard University, and pursued his medical education at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He has been involved with the clinical development of multiple laser systems and related technologies, including the pulsed dye laser (Vbeam, Prima, Vbeam Pro), Ruby, Nd:Yag, Picosecond, CO2, Erbium, Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant, Fraxel Repair, Thermage, Sofwave, Genius radiofrequency with microneedling, LaseMD, Accure, Miria, Gentlewave LED, and Coolsculpting, amongst others.

Dr. Geronemus trained in dermatology at the New York University Medical Center, where he was the chief resident and subsequently underwent a fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. He is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at New York University Medical Center, where he founded its laser program and served nine years as chief of dermatologic and laser surgery. He is past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.

Dr. Geronemus’ exceptional contributions to the field have been recognized with prestigious awards. The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery has honored him with the Ellet Drake Award for outstanding contributions to laser medicine and the Leon Goldman Award for excellence in clinical laser research. The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) has awarded him the Samuel J. Stegman Award for distinguished service, and the University of Miami School of Medicine has elected him into their Alumni Hall of Fame. His dedication to patient care has been acknowledged with the Physician of the Year honor from the Vascular Birthmark Foundation and their Humanitarian Award in 2014.

Dr. Geronemus received the inaugural Vic Narurkar, MD, Innovations in Aesthetic Dermatology Lectureship Award from the ASDS in 2019 for advancing the craft and art of aesthetic dermatology through innovation, creativity, and technology. He has been recognized by New York Magazine as one of New York’s top dermatologists 28 times and voted one of the New York Times Magazine’s Super Doctors 18 times. He has also been rated one of America’s Top Doctors 20 times and America’s Top Doctors for Cancer 16 times.
